Real Health Is

An Opportunity For Awakening

If you’ve been struggling with your health for a while, there’s a good chance you’ve been stuck in the revolving door of apathetic answers that aren’t giving you relief or an opportunity to actually heal–and I know how it always makes you feel worse.

The longer you live with difficult conditions, the more common it is to feel disheartened, and it takes more and more energy to get up the courage to try again.

But you’re here today because there is a little voice inside of you that must try again–because you know things can be better. And you know what? I do too.

I became a healer because I grew up watching so many people in my family continue to decline, despite trying to get help for their issues over the course of many years. From a young age, I always knew it could be better. I knew we were created for more than this, and I was determined to find a better way.

And I did.

In order to really heal, it’s going to require a paradigm shift from the way most of us have experienced healthcare. Considering where you are in your process, and that you have found me, I’ll assume you are already shifting your perspective and your approach. I’m proud of you for that, and I’m going to help you keep going because you deserve to be the you that you envision. You deserve to feel good. And most importantly, you deserve to feel empowered around your health, regardless of what things come up from time to time.

So on that note, let’s discuss some important shifts that should be made in order to authentically improve your health from an enlightened and inspired perspective. Because do we really have time for any other kind?

Anxiety, depression, despair, inflammation, insomnia, emotions, fatigue, pain, and foggy brain are symptoms.

In the US, many of these things are treated as stand-alone conditions. In fact, if you watch tv, you’re likely to see a polished commercial for some prescription med that can treat it so you go on your merry way and never think of it again. That would be nice if it were true, but treating symptoms as the entirety of the whole issue is a disservice to both patient and practitioner.

In reality, these symptoms are signs of something bigger going on, and it’s important to look at the combination of all symptoms together to define the underlying pattern at the root. Then we can create a real treatment plan that gains momentum easily because everything within you is working together. {Finally!}

You Should Feel Empowered

In my 15 years of practice, I have treated thousands of difficult cases. The one thing that sticks out the most to me is how disempowering the average healthcare experience is, and that many people show up here feeling broken, helpless, angry, sad, and defeated. This is unacceptable to me.

Empowerment should be the first step, Babes. With all conditions, there should be a strategy, and if you aren’t informed of how you can continue making changes and taking the right steps, it’s going to be so much harder to actually recover. Our health isn’t separate from us. It’s all 1 thing, and when your life, your health, and your actions are aligned, the potential for lasting change is so much higher.

So, I have a strict policy at Flourish that everyone leaves the first appointment {and all appointments} feeling like you have options, you can make different choices, those choices make sense, they’re attainable, and they lead to great results.

I also look for the same with my personal healthcare team. It’s kind of like a threshold that we go through when we heal. It all suddenly makes sense, and empowerment becomes woven into every step and every exchange. It’s a crucial part of your healing trajectory, and will act as the foundation for all of the choices you make going forward.

You Should Be Heard, Understood, and Supported

Another important thing lacking in most healthcare visits is feeling like you are heard. Sometimes people show up for their first visit at Flourish and they talk really fast because they are so used to being rushed, they think they have to try to spew it all out quickly, or they won’t get the chance to relay the important information.

Real health takes the time to get to know you.

At Flourish, I reserve a full hour to discuss your health history and goals. It’s important that you are able to define your experience of how things have developed, how they have affected you, and how the things you are experiencing are problematic for you. It’s not just what you’re experiencing, I also want to know the how.

In Chinese medicine, we call it a constitution. Your constitution is composed of your genetics, your illness and trauma history, how you have been living, and how your condition is currently manifesting. What this means is that everyone experiences things differently, and when we make space for nuance and treat accordingly, you get better so much faster.

Food Matters

Every meal you eat is an opportunity to nourish your health, or slow down your healing process, depending on your choices. There is no way to truly recover, evolve, discover your potential, or fully thrive without including foods that build Qi {Energy, vibrance, health, vitality & longevity}.

At Flourish, we use food as medicine as a vital part of your treatment plan. Knowing how food plays a role in healing your condition will lead you to a level of thriving you never thought was possible. It doesn’t have to be complicated or overwhelming. Healing foods have vibrance and they give you energy every time you eat.

There are particular ways to address every condition and constitution, but wherever you are in your process, you can make amazing choices starting today just by adding more cooked vegetables to your meals, switching to pastured, wild, and grassfed meats, and cutting out fast food, low nutrient snacks, excess sugar, and gluten.

I’ll help you with the rest. For today, just know that high quality food is one of the greatest assets in every recovery plan, and once you know what works best for you, you have 3 opportunities every day to make choices that aid in your recovery.

Recovering From Illness Helps You Evolve

Some people say it’s not happening to you, it’s happening for you. It may not feel like that when you are suffering, but the underlying gifts that come along with illness are that you grow, evolve, expand your consciousness, get to know yourself better, and ultimately, get better at truly loving and caring for yourself for the best reasons.

Signs and symptoms show up feeling like problems to be solved, but over time you come to realize they are how your body communicates with you that it needs something different. That YOU need something different.

I can’t tell you all of the ways I’ve had to slow down throughout my healing process. Some days it felt super frustrating, but most of the time I have been grateful. It has helped me grow into so much more of a human than I imagined, and I know now that my gift is in defining the process, supporting others to release the things that aren’t working, and helping to ease the growing pains.

You’re here today because you have been asking for more. You’ve always wanted more, and now it’s time to get it. For all of the times you asked questions and asked for help, but didn’t get it, know that those moments just fueled your strength and curiosity. Lean into the questions you’ve had, and continue trusting that the insight you are gaining is all leading to something great.

Real health is the ultimate opportunity for awakening. You may not have known that for the first part of your journey, but the way it forces you to grow is what ultimately develops more of your depth, a healthy glow, more patience, dedication to yourself, and humility. Choosing to grapple with your health, face it, and do what it takes to heal will lead you to your truest and strongest self–and he or she or they may surprise you.

Many people come to Flourish for relief. But they stay for the support, the understanding, and the opportunity for infinite growth. This is where people come when they are ready to heal and stop running around getting disappointed.

Hope to see you soon!
